Biography

Lari Warren-Jeanpiere, PhD, is the portfolio director for Social Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, and Gerontology at University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC). She earned her BA in sociology from Hampton University and her MA and PhD in sociology from Wayne State University, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Georgetown University’s Department of Medicine. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Science in learning design and technology at UMGC.

A medical sociologist and instructional designer, Warren-Jeanpiere has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on HIV/AIDS prevention among African Americans and leads projects on cultural humility in counselor education and ethical AI in teaching. She is also a recipient of an Elkins Scholarship of Teaching and Learning grant, through which she examines how counselor education can move beyond cultural competency to foster cultural humility and inclusive practice.
