Biography

Sharon Levin, PhD, serves as a graduate accounting faculty member at UMGC. She has taught at UMGC since 1992 and served various administrative roles throughout her career. She earned tenure as an accounting professor at Trinity University in 2001 and was also a consultant for the Environmental Protection Agency where she was lead curriculum developer and trainer for the ENERGY STAR program. Levin started an energy consulting practice that provided services to owners, developers, engineers and managers of commercial office buildings, hotels and hospitals. Ten years later, her passion for helping students achieve their education goals brought her back to teaching full time at UMGC.

Levin has earned several noteworthy certifications, including Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the state of Maryland, Certified Fraud Examiner by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Certified Ethical Leader by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, and Certified Mediator by the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolutions.
