Community College Advocacy, Advancement, and Entrepreneurship

DMCC 851 | 6 Credits

Course Desc: An exploration of the process by which community college leaders advocate for their students and organization in the face of the  challenges and opportunities in higher education today and the skills needed for successful advocacy. Topics include the use of argumentation, data, and presentation skills to develop and effectively present cases for support at the local, state, and federal levels. Discussion also covers the world of community college fund-raising and the potential of entrepreneurial ventures to help close the funding gap. Focus is on developing the skills to advocate and find support for equity and student success.
