An early fascination and respect for police officers led Shawn McEwen on the path to a career in criminal justice, possibly even as an FBI agent. Nearly 40 years after her first attempt at a degree in law enforcement, she’s finally reached that goal. McEwen recently earned her Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) with a double major in criminal justice and management studies.

Use of virtual lab simulations in science courses is becoming a standard at UMGC and boosting non-science students’ knowledge and engagement with science. 

The university is joining the national Learning and Employment Record (LER) Accelerator, a prestigious new initiative championing digital credentialing that better match workforce needs.
