Get Started & Register

It’s easy to request a transcript evaluation and get started at UMGC. Whether you're focused on earning credit for your completed coursework or continuing your education in a career-focused degree program, UMGC offers the ideal solution to help you reach your goal.

1

Complete an approved Outlier course: Successfully complete one of the approved Outlier college-level courses available through your Savvas-affiliated school. UMGC evaluates these courses and awards applicable college credit upon successful completion.

2

Apply for admission to UMGC: Complete the online application for admission. It typically takes about 10 minutes. Be sure to select Savvas or your affiliated organization, if applicable.

3

Complete a FERPA release form: If you are participating through a Savvas-affiliated school, you must complete a FERPA release form authorizing the sharing of academic records between the school, Savvas, and UMGC for the purpose of evaluating and awarding credit.

4

Submit your Outlier transcript(s): Submit your official transcripts or Outlier course completion documentation to UMGC for evaluation. Your transcripts from Outlier allow you to verify your eligibility for a tuition discount and earn transfer credit. UMGC reviews your course completion records and awards you the appropriate college credit based on established course equivalencies.

Please note: Continue submitting official transcripts or completion records to UMGC as you complete additional eligible Outlier courses.

5

Register for UMGC classes: Once you're admitted to UMGC, you will receive a student ID (EmplID) so you can register for courses online. Check the schedule of classes to view courses, and then register for classes online using the MyUMGC Student Portal.
