Your completed Outlier courses can offer you a head-start toward a number of bachelor's degree programs at UMGC, including the following:
Get Started & Register
Complete an approved Outlier course: Successfully complete one of the approved Outlier college-level courses available through your Savvas-affiliated school. UMGC evaluates these courses and awards applicable college credit upon successful completion.
Apply for admission to UMGC: Complete the online application for admission. It typically takes about 10 minutes. Be sure to select Savvas or your affiliated organization, if applicable.
Complete a FERPA release form: If you are participating through a Savvas-affiliated school, you must complete a FERPA release form authorizing the sharing of academic records between the school, Savvas, and UMGC for the purpose of evaluating and awarding credit.
Submit your Outlier transcript(s): Submit your official transcripts or Outlier course completion documentation to UMGC for evaluation. Your transcripts from Outlier allow you to verify your eligibility for a tuition discount and earn transfer credit. UMGC reviews your course completion records and awards you the appropriate college credit based on established course equivalencies.
Please note: Continue submitting official transcripts or completion records to UMGC as you complete additional eligible Outlier courses.
Register for UMGC classes: Once you're admitted to UMGC, you will receive a student ID (EmplID) so you can register for courses online. Check the schedule of classes to view courses, and then register for classes online using the MyUMGC Student Portal.
* This discount will be applied to out-of-state tuition for eligible students in most programs. This discount cannot be combined with certain scholarships or discount programs, including the Maryland Completion Scholarship, the Military New Graduate Student Savings Program, the Alumni Succeed Again Scholarship, and the discount for out-of-state community college alliances. Discounted tuition rates may not fall below the standard in-state rate or any special tuition rate offered to eligible active-duty military servicemembers, their spouses, or dependents.
The tuition discount will not be applied to the following graduate programs and related courses: Master of Business Administration; Master of Science in data analytics; Master of Science in digital forensics and cyber investigation; Master of Science in cybersecurity management and policy; Master of Science in cybersecurity technology; graduate certificates in business analytics, cybersecurity management and policy, cybersecurity technology, digital forensics and cyber investigation, and teaching cybersecurity; all doctoral programs; and select legacy programs. The tuition discount will apply beginning in the term in which you notify UMGC of your eligibility. Tuition discounts will not be applied to previous terms.
Additional discounts may be available for Federal employees and their spouses and eligible dependents. Undergraduate and standard graduate program tuition for students who meet the criteria for Maryland residency will be the applicable in-state rate. Tuition for active-duty military; members of the Selected Reserves, National Guard, and the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; and the spouses and dependents of these student groups will be the applicable military or specialty rate.
