Adelphi, Md. (July 29, 2025)—University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), a national leader in offering a skill-based curriculum and workforce relevant online academic programs, and Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in Overland Park, Kansas, a two-year institution with more than 18,000 students, have announced a transfer agreement.
“We are pleased to join with Johnson County Community College and provide students with a seamless pathway toward a bachelor’s degree,” said Chris Motz, chief partnership officer at UMGC. “Through these types of alliances, the university is committed to supporting community college transfer students around the country in reaching their educational goals as affordably and efficiently as possible.”
JCCC students who complete their associate degree can now transfer a minimum of 60 credits when they enroll in UMGC bachelor’s degree programs in complementary fields of study. The new partnership promises JCCC graduates guaranteed admission to UMGC, waives UMGC’s application fee and discounts tuition by 25 percent. The terms of the partnership also cover employees, spouses and dependents of JCCC.
“This partnership will help JCCC students who want to earn a bachelor’s degree at UMGC save time and money when transferring credits, or their associate’s degree,” said Leslie Washington, Director of Career and Transfer Services. “We look forward to seeing our students succeed at UMGC and pursue their career and life aspirations. Our goal is to foster partnerships that help make those aspirations a reality.”
UMGC offers a wide variety of fully online bachelor’s degree programs in fields such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, business, cybersecurity, information technology, healthcare administration, nursing and more. Students are assigned a Success Coach to help them plan and navigate their educational journey and uses free, digital course materials instead of costly textbooks in most courses, saving students thousands of dollars. UMGC students and graduates also benefit from access to lifetime career services.
