University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) participated in transfer fairs at San Jacinto College’s North and Central campuses in the Houston area during the week of Feb. 9, connecting with prospective students and expanding regional outreach.

The out-of-town events provided an opportunity for UMGC representatives to engage directly with community college students exploring their next academic steps. Conversations centered on students’ short- and long-term educational goals, intended majors, and preferred transfer institutions—helping ensure they have clear information about flexible pathways to continue their education.

“Events like the out-of-town transfer fairs at San Jacinto College are essential because they directly support UMGC’s mission,” said Jessica Rangel, UMGC Outreach Partnership Specialist. “By building connections with community colleges in this region, we’re able to reach new groups of prospective students and expand awareness of our San Antonio location, which offers hybrid course options and in-person advising.”

UMGC’s San Antonio location will also offer live-streamed class options, providing additional flexibility for students across Texas who may not be able to attend in person.

UMGC has also recently participated in a virtual transfer fair hosted by Dallas College and additional outreach events organized by San Jacinto College. The team is scheduled to attend another transfer fair with the Houston Community College system this spring.
