Montgomery College (MC) and the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) today announced a new dual admissions program in which students are simultaneously admitted to both Montgomery College and UMGC. Under the new program, Degree Destination: MC to UMGC, those students who complete an associate degree transfer credit seamlessly toward a bachelor’s degree at UMGC.

The two institutions announced the new program at a signing ceremony held on the Montgomery College campus in Rockville.

“This is an exciting opportunity for students in Maryland,” said Jermaine F. Williams, president of Montgomery College. “They can start at MC, unlock their potential in a supportive environment, and seamlessly continue their educational journey with UMGC. This is a great example of how we are providing tools and support to ensure students can complete their degrees successfully.”

The dual admission program complements UMGC’s existing Maryland Completion Scholarship program, which allows Maryland community college graduates to transfer to UMGC and earn a bachelor’s degree for $12,000 or less.

“We are so pleased to join Montgomery College today in renewing our commitment to a partnership that has for many years helped students in Maryland reach their academic goals and transform their lives,” said Gregory Fowler, president of UMGC. “This alliance is one of UMGC’s largest. It represents an ideal alignment because both of our institutions are leading educators in the Washington Metropolitan area and both are committed to serving the region’s workforce needs.”

Benefits of dual admission include acceptance of all Montgomery College transfer credits; co-advising with UMGC advisors to ensure Montgomery College courses align with the chosen UMGC program; and access to UMGC’s lifetime career services and library resources, including research help, guides, and writing and citation tutorials. UMGC also waives the $50 application fee for undergraduate transfer students enrolled at Montgomery College.
