UMGC Global Media Center UMUC Holds First-Ever Winter Commencement: Saturday, December 16

Sen. Chris Van Hollen and 2016 Miss USA Shauna Barber (’15) to Deliver Keynote Addresses. Ceremonies Will Be Available Live Via Webcasts

ADELPHI, Md. (Nov. 5, 2017)—University of Maryland University College will hold its first-ever winter commencement ceremonies at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Maryland, on Saturday, Dec. 16.  Approximately 1,200 students are scheduled to graduate during two ceremonies held that day.

UMUC Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 16:

9 a.m., Xfinity Center, College Park

  • Keynote speaker: Deshauna Barber, UMUC alumna, captain in the U.S. Army Reserves, and Miss USA 2016.

3:30 p.m., Xfinity Center, College Park

  • Keynote speaker: U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.)

The two ceremonies will be available for viewing live via webcasts. To access the webcasts visit www.umgc.edu/commencement.

UMUC also holds stateside commencement ceremonies in May, as well as ceremonies for military personnel and their dependents at installations around the world (including those in Asia and Europe). This is the first time that UMUC will hold a winter commencement anywhere in the world.
