Thanks to Roche's alliance with University of Maryland Global Campus, a leader in online education for working adults, you have two great options to save on tuition: Smart Track and our special discount program.

Smart Track Program Details

If you are an eligible Roche employee, you can save on the cost of your undergraduate or graduate degree at UMGC when you enroll in Smart Track.

  • Undergraduate students who enroll in standard programs will be able to take up to 27 credits per calendar year for no more than $10,000 (tuition over $10,000 will be waived up to 27 credits; students will be charged in-state or discounted out-of-state rates up to $10,000).
  • Graduate students who enroll in standard programs will be able to take up to 21 credits per calendar year at no cost (tuition over $10,000 will be waived up to 21 credits; students will be charged in-state or discounted out-of-state rates up to $10,000).
  • Graduate students who enroll in specialty programs (our MBA, most cyber programs, or data analytics programs) will be able to take up to 18 credits per calendar year at no cost (Application fees will be waived; tuition over $10,000 will be waived up to 18 credits).

Once you’ve reached the annual credit amounts listed above for your specific program, you can continue to take additional classes at UMGC. In addition, you may be eligible for tuition savings under the special discount program.

Under the Smart Track program, course technology fees will also be waived. Plus, if you're a new student, you can save $50 with our application fee waiver.

To be eligible for Smart Track, you must be

  • A Roche employee
  • Pursuing a standard undergraduate or any graduate program at UMGC

Special Discount Program

Thanks to Roche’s alliance with UMGC, you, your spouse, and your legal dependents may be eligible to receive a discount of up to 25 percent on out-of-state tuition for all standard undergraduate and standard graduate programs.* Plus, new students can save $50 when they apply to UMGC with our application fee waiver.

Tuition Discount Details

This discount will be applied to out-of-state tuition for eligible students in most programs.* This discount cannot be combined with certain scholarships or discount programs, including the Maryland Completion Scholarship, the Military New Graduate Student Savings Program, the Alumni Succeed Again Scholarship, and the discount for out-of-state community college alliances. Discounted tuition rates may not fall below the standard in-state rate or any special tuition rate offered to eligible activity-duty military servicemembers, their spouses, or dependents.

UMGC's master's degree programs in biotechnology and environmental management have received a special designation as Professional Science Master’s Degree (PSM) programs through the Council of Graduate Schools. PSM programs are designed for students who are seeking a graduate degree in science or mathematics and understand the need for developing workplace skills valued by top employers.

Get Started & Register for Smart Track

It’s easy to get started. Whether you're focused on advancing your career or continuing your education, UMGC offers the ideal program to help you reach your goal.

Apply for admission to UMGC: Complete the online application for admission. It typically takes about 10 minutes. Be sure to select your employer or organization on the application form.

Earn credit for your education and eligible experience: Submit your official transcripts from any previous institutions of higher education.

Register for classes: Once you're admitted to UMGC, you will receive a student ID (EmplID) so you can register for courses online. Check the schedule of classes to view courses, and then register for classes online using the MyUMGC Student Portal.

Complete the EdAssist tuition application: Complete and submit the Tuition Assistance Application to EdAssist after enrolling in UMGC courses. In addition, you must submit your grades to EdAssist at the completion of each course. You may access your grades in your MyUMGC Student Portal. Students are encouraged to refer to their company's tuition assistance policy for policy details.

Verify your eligibility: Complete a tuition benefits verification form for each term that you plan to enroll in courses. Reimbursement students are responsible for payment at the end of each term they are enrolled.

* The tuition discount will not be applied to the following graduate programs and related courses: Master of Business Administration; Master of Science in data analytics; Master of Science in digital forensics and cyber investigation; Master of Science in cybersecurity management and policy; Master of Science in cybersecurity technology; graduate certificates in cybersecurity management and policy, cybersecurity technology, digital forensics and cyber investigation, and foundations in business analytics; all doctoral programs; and select legacy programs. The tuition discount will apply beginning in the term in which you notify UMGC of your eligibility. Tuition discounts will not be applied to previous terms.

Additional discounts may be available for Federal employees and their spouses and eligible dependents. Undergraduate and standard graduate program tuition for students who meet the criteria for Maryland residency will be the applicable in-state rate. Tuition for active-duty military; members of the Selected Reserves, National Guard, and the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; and the spouses and dependents of these student groups will be the applicable military or specialty rate.
