Collaboration supports workforce development through tuition savings
Adelphi, Md. — July 30, 2026 — University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) has signed an agreement with the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce to offer discounted tuition to Chamber members, their employees, and eligible family members. Through this partnership, UMGC and the Chamber are investing in the continued growth of San Diego's workforce by expanding access to affordable, high-quality education and professional development.
Eligible participants who are admitted to a UMGC program may receive up to a 25% discount on out-of-state tuition, and the application fee is waived for those who enroll.
San Diego is home to one of the nation's most innovative and diverse regional economies, with businesses ranging from emerging startups to global corporations across technology, healthcare, defense, life sciences, tourism, and professional services. This partnership supports the Chamber's commitment to developing a strong talent pipeline by helping employers invest in the education and professional growth of their workforce, while also underscoring UMGC’s growing presence in the greater San Diego area through separate partnerships with regional organizations.
"One of the most rewarding parts of my role is working alongside local employers and community partners to identify meaningful ways to support workforce development," said Katy Sabala, an outreach partnership specialist at UMGC. "Through this partnership with the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, we're expanding access to flexible, career-focused education that helps working professionals build new skills, advance their careers, and meet the evolving needs of San Diego's employers."
Through this agreement, Chamber member organizations, their employees, and eligible family members will have access to more than 100 UMGC degree and certificate programs. Designed for working adults, UMGC's flexible online and hybrid learning options help learners gain in-demand skills while balancing work, family, and other commitments.
"Champion Business. Empower Leaders. That's not just the Chamber's mission, it's what this partnership delivers," said Chris Cate, President and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. "By making a UMGC education more affordable for our members and their employees, including the veterans and military families who strengthen our regional workforce, we're helping build the skilled talent pipeline San Diego businesses need to grow."
In addition to its online learning options, UMGC serves the San Diego community through its hybrid location at 2615 Camino del Rio South, Suite 300, San Diego, CA 92108. The location offers in-person academic advising and hybrid classes, giving students the flexibility to combine online coursework with classroom instruction while receiving personalized support throughout their educational journey.
