UMGC MBA programs ranked #1 among largest part-time programs by Washington Business Journal

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) has been recognized by the Washington Business Journal for the scale of its MBA programs, with its part-time MBA ranked #1 and its full-time MBA ranked #2 among the largest programs in the greater Washington, D.C. region.

The Washington Business Journal rankings highlight the largest MBA programs in the region based on fall 2025 enrollment and program size, underscoring UMGC’s role in workforce development and commitment to serving working professionals and adult learners through flexible, career-focused graduate education.

UMGC’s MBA program was the first U.S.-based MBA developed specifically for online delivery. A 2024 program redesign grants students in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area the added option of choosing a hybrid program that includes both online and in-person classes. The program is backed by the University System of Maryland and approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. The International Accreditation Council for Business Education has accredited the program for more than 20 years.

“The UMGC MBA program was designed by identifying the competencies employers most often seek, then building learning experiences that help working professionals develop those skills through applied projects, strategic problem-solving, technology integration, and leadership development,” said MBA Portfolio Director Camelia Fawzy, DM, MBA.

Students can choose among five specializations—finance, human resources management, marketing, global business, and nonprofit management—while developing skills relevant to current workforce demands. Designed for working adults, UMGC emphasize flexibility and accessibility, allowing students to balance academic work with professional and personal responsibilities as they continue to advance in their careers.

Students who complete a master’s in cybersecurity management policy, cybersecurity technology, or data analytics can complete an additional six courses and the capstone course to also earn an MBA.

UMGC offers a wide range of flexible online and hybrid courses, with more than 175 classroom and service locations worldwide and over 100 degrees and certificates. UMGC is the largest provider of postsecondary education in Maryland.
