UMGC event links workforce-ready students and alumni with employers nationwide
On March 20, 2026, University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) hosted its annual Virtual Career Fair, featuring more than 50 employers from across the United States. The event drew strong interest from the university community, with more than 2,500 current students and alumni registered. Participants collectively submitted more than 400 applications to participating employers.
UMGC’s Virtual Career Fair represents the culmination of a series of career‑readiness experiences offered by the university. These include preparation webinars, personalized advising, access to a wide range of professional development tools, and a popular “preview week” leading up to the event.
Participants praised the value of the experience, with one attendee sharing in an anonymous post‑event survey, “Thank you so much for the opportunity. Keep doing the great work in supporting students and graduates finding their career paths.”
Employers also recognized the benefits of participating. Aubrey Bacon, representing KAIROS, Inc., highlighted the strength of the candidate pool. “We appreciated the wide range of candidates—varying in experience, location, and field—which offered strong breadth for our recruiting needs.”
One job seeker captured the event’s purpose succinctly, noting, “This event gave me access to employers and roles I might not have otherwise explored.”
“UMGC Career Services plays a critical role in supporting learner success beyond the classroom, ensuring students and alumni are not navigating their careers alone,” said Director of Career Services Cathy Francois.
“By expanding access to career readiness programming, coaching, and employer partnerships, we help learners build confidence, make informed decisions, and translate their skills into meaningful career outcomes at every stage of their journey.”
