Students, faculty, and leadership at Joint Base Lewis–McChord came together on Jan. 23 to celebrate academic excellence during the Stone Education Center’s 2026 Military Academic Achievement Awards Ceremony, where they recognized outstanding student and faculty achievements from the past year. University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) proudly honored two exceptional student awardees: SSG Tamaria Johnson and SSG Verner Harris IV.

UMGC student SSG Tamaria Johnson is recognized for her academic excellence and leadership. Balancing her role as an instructor at the Henry H. Lind NCO Academy with a 3.7 GPA, she continues progressing toward her Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management.

UMGC student SSG Verner Harris IV receives honors for his academic achievement and commitment to lifelong learning. After completing his associate degree and launching his own life‑coaching business, he is now pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
