Adelphi, Md. — November 5, 2025 — University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and the Fulbright Association have announced a new strategic partnership that will expand global education opportunities, foster leadership development, and strengthen international collaboration across higher education and public service.

The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by UMGC President Gregory W. Fowler, PhD, and Fulbright Association President and Board Chair Dr. Walter McCollum, will focus on developing joint programming, research, and mentorship opportunities that connect learners, alumni, and thought leaders across borders. Areas of potential collaboration include global leadership development, cyber diplomacy, international education policy, and advocacy for cross-cultural exchange. A key component of the partnership lays the groundwork for establishing a structured mentorship network that will pair UMGC students and faculty with Fulbright alumni, fostering global dialogue and professional growth.

"This partnership between UMGC and the Fulbright Association reflects our shared commitment to advancing global education, cultural exchange, and leadership," said McCollum. "Together, we are creating new pathways for scholars, students, and communities to engage across borders, deepen mutual understanding, and drive meaningful social impact. We look forward to the innovative programming and collaborative opportunities this partnership will bring."

"This partnership with the Fulbright Association reflects our shared belief in the power of education to connect people, spark innovation, and shape a more resilient and inclusive global future,” said Fowler. “By linking our students and faculty with the Fulbright network, we are expanding access to international learning and creating opportunities for leadership, service, and meaningful collaboration across borders."
