Access to food is access to education—and for UMGC learners, fulfillment of basic needs remains essential to degree completion. This October, UMGC joined higher education leaders across the region at the 2025 Regional College Hunger Conference, advancing strategies to eliminate food insecurity as a barrier to student success.

Representing UMGC, Susanna Driver, Assistant Vice President of Student Support, Engagement, and Belonging, spoke on a panel highlighting the university’s approach to closing the basic needs gap. From emergency aid to early resource connection, UMGC continues to build multidimensional support systems that meet students wherever they are in the world.
