Adelphi, Md. (Jan. 19, 2023)— University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is pleased to announce that the Board of Commissioners of the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) has reaffirmed specialized business accreditation for the university’s MBA program. IACBE also recognized the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program with first-time accreditation.

“Such specialized programmatic accreditation by IACBE is an external validation and confirmation of quality,” said Ravi Mittal, PhD, chair of the Business Administration Department. “Our graduates and their employers benefit from this external quality assurance.

“When applicants to our programs see the IACBE logo on our website, they should be assured that both the MBA and DBA programs have demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement, excellence in business education, and advancing academic quality,” he added.

Accreditation is granted after a rigorous process of self-evaluation and independent peer review. The accreditation, announced at IACBE’s Board of Commissioners’ December meeting, demonstrates that UMGC is following the IACBE’s Accreditation Principles. The IACBE staff worked closely with the School of Business faculty and UMGC administration during the accreditation process.

“UMGC’s School of Business has demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement, excellence in business education, and advancing academic quality in its business programs and operations,” the IACBE said.

The IACBE’s Accreditation Principles address a number of issues, including commitment to integrity, responsibly and ethical behavior; quality assessment and advancement; strategic planning; business curricula and learning opportunities; business faculty characteristics, activities, and processes; student policies, procedures, and processes; resources supporting business programs; external relationships; and innovation in business education.

More information on IACBE-accredited programs is available on the IACBE Member Status page on the IACBE website.
