Review Supplemental Documents Required for Admission

Admission to the program is competitive and is based on a combination of all requirements. Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission. In addition to the UMGC application for admission, you will need to complete and submit the following:

  • Official transcripts indicating successful completion of a master's degree and the MCCA Leadership Academy
  • An up-to-date resume, sent to admissions@umgc.edu.
  • Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references, sent to admissions@umgc.edu using the doctorate recommendation form.
  • Responses to three specific writing prompts (300–500 words per prompt), sent to admissions@umgc.edu.
    • Explain your interest in pursuing a doctoral degree in community college leadership. How would this degree aid in your career plans?
    • What evidence can you provide that demonstrates your potential for a senior leadership position in a community college? Please include specific examples.
    • What do you see as the greatest opportunities and challenges for community colleges in the coming years? Please include specific examples.

After completing and submitting your supplemental documentation, you may be asked to interview with the doctoral admissions committee (30 minutes; via phone or teleconference).

Please note: For more information, read the Doctor of Management in community college policy and administration admission requirements. However, please keep in mind that the tuition discount, transfer credit, cohort start date, and residency arrangements are specific to this partnership agreement.
