Join the UMGC community for an Earth Day celebration saluting electric vehicles and driving electric.

As America celebrates the 52nd Earth Day, electric vehicle enthusiasts are saluting the 20-year anniversary of the introduction of the first mass-market hybrid vehicles and the 10th anniversary of practical electric cars. Join the UMGC community for a discussion about electric vehicles; their history; and the economic, health, and climate benefits of driving electric by Ron Kaltenbaugh, president of the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington DC (EVADC). A few UMGC staff members will also share their experience driving an electric vehicle.

About the Speaker

Ron Kaltenbaugh has been involved with promoting electric vehicles and addressing climate change for more than 10 years. An electric vehicle driver since 2012, Kaltenbaugh and his wife are now a two EV family. As a Climate Reality–trained speaker, he regularly gives presentations on climate change, electric vehicles, and related topics. He is also chair of the Frederick County Sustainability Commission and a member of the Catoctin Chapter of the Sierra Club. Kaltenbaugh has a master’s degree in computer science and works in network engineering for a Fortune 500 company.
