University of Maryland Global Campus students and alumni do more than just take classes. Many of these individuals are active volunteers within local organizations, schools, churches, neighborhoods, and at UMGC. Continuing our tradition of recognizing the service of our students and alumni, UMGC presents the Volunteer of the Month award monthly.
The award honors the dedication of UMGC's students and alumni to pursue the greater good and their willingness to help others, even while juggling work, school, family and other responsibilities. Award winners are recognized on UMGC's Volunteer of the Month webpage and in social media posts
"I find pleasure in knowing that the education I'm providing can help someone to become a better performer or prepare them for the next steps in their career," said Jermique Hopkins, December 2018 winner and current student. "It is my way of blessing others with what I've learned over the years that has allowed me to be successful in my career."
Hopkins received the award for her volunteer work providing quality training to those seeking employment, career advancement, or basic computer knowledge.
Students, alumni, faculty, and staff can nominate students or alumni for Volunteer of the Month. Submitting a nomination is a simple process, and nominations are accepted at any time. Self-nominations are also welcome.
