The University of Maryland Global Campus community is made up of students and faculty from all parts of the country and the world. Should you be unable to continue in an online course, or if you are facing financial difficulties because of a natural disaster, we have programs in place to help.

In the aftermath of a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, the university may institute programs and scholarships to assist affected students at UMGC and other institutions. In such an event, you can find the most recent information and resource links by visiting this page.

What should I do if I have been unable to access my online classroom and/or attend classes due to a natural disaster? +

If you are a current student, contact your faculty member as soon as communication channels become available. If you are not able to make contact with him/her, call 800-888-8682 to speak to an advisor about your situation.

Does UMGC have a policy in place to help students who are displaced by a natural disaster? +

Please be assured that UMGC has policies in place to help you. Each student's situation will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. What should I do about my financial aid, tuition assistance, or veterans benefits if I'm unable to attend classes due to a natural disaster? +

Please contact Student Financial Services at 800-888-8682 before making any adjustments to your course schedule. This will help you to avoid any negative financial implications.

My institution is temporarily closed due to a natural disaster, but I would like to continue taking classes. Can UMGC help? +

UMGC will expeditiously admit and enroll students who have been displaced from their universities because of a natural disaster. If you would like to continue your coursework at UMGC, either online or at one of our on-site locations, please call 800-888-8682 to speak to an admissions advisor.

I am a UMGC faculty member and I or my students have been unable to conduct class activities due to a natural disaster. What should I do? +

If you are a faculty member, contact your program director to get assistance in communicating with your class and/or determining what accommodations should be made.
