University of Maryland University Colleges is committed to identifying and removing potential accessibility barriers in its facilities, on its grounds, and its programming and activities for employees, students, and campus visitors.
ADA Compliance is a unit within the Office of Diversity and Equity. ADA Compliance serves as the point of contact for matters relating to ADA compliance while facilitating the flow of information among the various UMUC offices. We provide advice on ADA compliance concerns to all sectors of the UMUC community.
ADA Compliance’s mission includes ensuring UMUC's programs are ADA compliant. We also maintain current information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act, also known as ADA, of 1990; the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended: Section 504 and Section 508; and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities as well as promote best practices with regard to the rights of persons with disabilities.
Additionally, ADA Compliance supports Accessibility Services and reviews complaints by faculty, staff, and students who believe that they have not received an appropriate accommodation or academic adjustment. Such complaints should be made in writing, to the ADA Compliance Officer within five business days of receiving a decision from Accessibility Services.
