Peer Evaluation

One of the challenging parts of finishing a group project is doing evaluations on your peers. While it might be easier to say that everyone did a “fine job”, you want to emphasize the positives as well as things that could be worked in for future projects.

Here are some items you may want to include:

fulfillment of agreed-upon responsibilities
dependability
cooperation
effort

quality and level of work
ability to meet deadlines
attendance at meetings
timeliness of contributions

You should decide what it means to meet these criteria successfully and what constitutes failure.

Your team might consider a separate evaluation form for your leader. The criteria to consider for a project leader’s evaluation might be these items:

ability to lead
fairness in assigning tasks

ability to resolve conflicts
ability to motivate
attendance at meetings

Remember, when doing these evaluations, be constructive with your words. Be careful not to include a list of negatives. Highlight the positives. Offer suggestions where they can make improvements.
