University of Maryland Global Campus is committed to safeguarding the health of our students, staff, and faculty. Because vaccinations reduce the spread of SARS-CoV-2—the virus that causes COVID-19—UMGC has adopted the following policies:

  • Hybrid Students: UMGC students taking courses at any UMGC hybrid location must be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination at least 72 hours prior to the session start date, unless an exception is approved as a reasonable accommodation based on disability or religion.

    • You will also be required to follow any location-specific guidance, which may include wearing masks, social distancing, and observing directional signage.

    • Submit your proof of vaccination (CDC vaccine card) or request for exemption through our online portal.

  • Online Students: UMGC students who study fully online are not required to show proof of vaccination.

  • Faculty & Staff: All faculty (full-time and adjunct), staff, and contractors who come to a UMGC location to work or attend on-site meetings or events must be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination by December 8, 2021, unless an exception is approved as a reasonable accommodation based on disability or religion.

    • Contact your program director or supervisor for instructions on how to submit documentation.

These policies are in alignment with the University System of Maryland (USM) and are based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities.

FAQs: COVID-19 Vaccination

Where can I receive a COVID-19 vaccination? +

COVID-19 vaccines are widely available at pharmacies nationwide (e.g. Giant Pharmacy, Walgreens, and CVS).

If you are looking for a vaccine in the state of Maryland, please visit the state's vaccine site locator. You can also Find COVID-19 Vaccines nationwide by visiting the CDC’s vaccine webpage.

When am I considered fully vaccinated? +

You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after your second dose of a two-dose vaccine (e.g. Pfizer or Moderna), or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (e.g. Johnson & Johnson or Janssen). In either scenario, the vaccination you receive must be FDA-approved or authorized for emergency use by the World Health Organization.

Can I register for hybrid courses if I have not received a COVID-19 vaccination? +

If you have not received a COVID-19 vaccination or provided proof of vaccination at least 72 hours priors to your session start date, you may be dropped from the class per UMGC's policy on COVID-19 vaccination for students.

We want you to find the option that works best for you. If you are uncomfortable with the on-site experience or unable to register for hybrid courses due to your vaccination status, you may sign up for one of our many online course alternatives that are available to help you complete your degree.
