These program requirements are for students who enroll in the 2022-2023 academic year.


With the online associate’s specialized curriculum area in criminal justice, you can acquire knowledge in the three areas that make up the criminal justice system: law enforcement, courts and justice systems, and corrections. Take a variety of courses that may be applied to a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Program Highlights

  • Investigate policies: Utilize ethical reasoning, analytical skills, and professional knowledge to investigate policies.
  • Analyze policies: Evaluate criminal justice public policies using analytical competencies.

The online bachelor’s degree in homeland security at UMGC is uniquely designed to provide you with an understanding of the homeland security sector. The curriculum provides an understanding of international and domestic terrorism, emerging technologies, cyber threats, infrastructure protection, emergency preparedness and response, private-sector partnerships, global pandemics, natural disasters, strategic planning, policies, intelligence operations, and international engagement. You’ll develop critical-thinking, ethical decision-making, risk analysis, and communication skills to meet the professional demands of leadership and management in the homeland security profession.
