Associate of Arts

These program requirements are for students who enroll in the 2022-2023 academic year.


Get an introduction to business and management and take courses in accounting principles, information systems, statistics, economics, and more. You’ll have the opportunity to apply credits to a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Program Highlights
  • Take core courses: Study interpersonal communication, writing, literature, news writing, or speech.
  • Build leadership skills: Think creatively and strategically about business administration and information systems.
  • Explore the fundamentals: Explore leadership and management fundamentals in the business world.
  • Strengthen basic skills: Hone techniques in time management, interviewing, problem solving, decision making, and collaboration.
  • Examine management: Examine the four functions of management with an emphasis on application.
  • Apply theory: Use leadership theory and assessment tools to evaluate your own leadership skills.
Required Courses
  • One 3-credit course in communication, writing, or speech, chosen from the following:

    • (3 Credits, SPCH 125) (recommended)

    • (3 Credits, ENGL 102)

    • (3 Credits, ENGL 281)

    • (3 Credits, JOUR 201)
    • Any 3-credit COMM or SPCH courses
    • Any 3-credit WRTG courses (except 486A and 486B)
  • One 1-credit course, chosen from the following:

Career Preparation

This program is designed to help you prepare for work in management and operations for nonprofit, for-profit, and public-sector organizations. The degree could lead to positions in general management, human resource management, budget and business analysis, and financial and contract management.
