Associate of Arts

These program requirements are for students who enroll in the 2022-2023 academic year.


Take a variety of accounting, finance, and economics courses in the Associate of Arts in general studies specialized curriculum area in accounting and finance. You’ll have the opportunity to build expertise in business- and accounting-related areas such as business law, information systems, marketing, and more.

Program Highlights

This program will help you demonstrate competencies in fundamental accounting practices to transition toward a bachelor’s degree in accounting and related fields.

Required Courses
  • One 3-credit course in communication, writing, or speech, chosen from the following:

    • (3 Credits, ENGL 102)

    • (3 Credits, ENGL 281)

    • (3 Credits, JOUR 201)
    • Any 3-credit COMM or SPCH courses
    • Any 3-credit WRTG courses (except 486A and 486B)
  • One 1-credit course, chosen from the following:

    • (1 Credit, CAPL 198A)

    • (1 Credit, CAPL 198B)

    • (1 Credit, CAPL 198C)

    • (1 Credit, BMGT 121A)

    • (1 Credit, BMGT 121B)
    • Any 1-credit course
  • 21 credits of accounting- and finance-related coursework, chosen from any ACCT or FINC courses for which you meet the prerequisites.
Career Preparation

This program is designed to help prepare you for entry-level accounting careers in a wide range of industries as well as at corporations and nonprofit and government organizations.
