Environmental/Energy Law and Policy

ENVM 610 | 3 Credits

Course Desc: Prerequisite or corequisite: ENVM 600. An introduction to environmental/energy law and policy. The goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the current environmental landscape and provide a pathway for continual improvement with critical use of available environmental/energy law and policy resources. A critical systems-thinking approach to environmental/energy law and policy is used. Discussion explores how legislation and policies form society and with the use of models, examines changes that can be implemented for a more sustainable future. Topics include the history of U.S. environmental/energy law and policy, the legislative process, the administrative process, use of policy memo, modeling, and key pieces of energy and environmental legislation.
